Art Impressions Challenge Tropical Treat!

Hey everyone!

Have you joined in on the challenge over on the Art Impressions blog? The theme is Tropical Treat. I decided to use the really cute smaller stamps that we call freebies. When making a purchase in the Art Impressions shop you might receive one of these sea critters in you package. I believe they are still being offered.

If you didn't see the live with Claire Snyder showing off the freebies go ahead an head here to the Art Impression's Facebook page for this fun live.  She even names each one, which is something I would totally do too!

For the coloring of the sea creatures I used Parkoo Markers. These were sent to me to try out. I've used them on several projects and they aren't bad. I'll be honest, I prefer Copic Markers for alcohol ink coloring. You just can't beat the color selection, refill-ability and the brush tip. The Parkoo markers have a bullet nib, which isn't a bad thing. I've used several marker brands before that have a bullet nib instead of a brush. For someone first trying out alcohol markers or anyone on a budget the Parkoo markers would work great. I tend to take these with me on the go. The case is handy! I'll have the list of colors below.

I stamped all my creatures on to Neenah 80lb card stock using Gina K. Amalgam ink. While creating this one I was also up at my Mom's house so I had limited supplies. But she had some really nice pattern paper from Sparkle & Co that has a colorful wood plank texture. So I cut down several different colors of that pattern paper and adhered them to a scrap piece of card stock. I ran my newly made pattern paper piece through a die cut machine with the second to largest Rectangle Double Stitch die.

I also used one of the smaller circle dies from Art Impressions on some 110lb cardstock and layered the creatures over the top. The sentiment is a left over from when I made a card using the Reel Great Guy stamp set a couple of weeks ago. I was going to use this one then but I decided to go a different route. Luckily it works well with the sea creatures and I remembered to pack it!
