i-crafter April Release Blog Hop | Tombow Watercoloring

Hey all! It's April and that means it's time for a new release from i-crafter! Today the Inspiration team is showing off some fun projects we made using the new goodies. The links for the blog hop is located at the bottom of this post along with all the supplies I used today.

For my card today I used the beautiful Water Lily Embossing Folder and the Carly Alphabet die set. The Water Lily folder is very detailed and such a beautiful image. I used my die cut machine and embossed a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper.

There are so many ways to use embossing folders, I will be coloring the water lily image with Tombow Dual Brush markers.

I started by painting on the lightest green onto all of the lily pads. This image is very raised so it's easy to stay on the image. I used a palette to scribble the color from the marker on to then picked up the color with a wet paint brush. I'll do the same for the flowers when I get to that point, but use different colors.

The lily pads have lovely vein texture and I wanted to give those a bit of depth. I used a darker green marker and traced over each then added a mix of the dark and light green with water over the top. This blends everything together.

For the flowers I did the same thing. But I only use one marker for these. I created a lighter color by heavily watering down the marker color and painting with that first. Then added depth with a more concentrated color. Because I'm using water on this embossed Water Lily image, it does start to loose some of the depth of the embossing. To resolve that, once it is dry, I set it back into the folder and re-emboss it. Then take the bullet nib of the markers and trace the edges. This was really fun and something I've never done before.

To make the sentiment I used white cardstock and die cut each letter using the Carly Alphabet. These letter dies come with the lowercase, capital, numbers and punctuation. I wanted my sentiment to be something that I don't have a stamp set with it in it, "Apart for now. Together soon." is something that works for what is going on in the world now and also a sentiment that could work for numerous occasions.

Thank you all for stopping by today!
