Brutus Monroe Blog Hop | Fabulous Fibers

Hey everyone!!

It's Wednesday and the Brutus Monroe Inspiration team has some fun projects to share with you using a newer product to the Brutus Monroe website, Fabulous Fibers.

Find more inspiration using the Fabulous Fibers here
or other cards I have created using the Birds of a Feather stamp set.

Ok so I was pretty excited to try out these Fab Fibers in a laminator. I recently got a new one and I hadn't tried it out yet. Spoiler alert... it works great. I used a piece of parchment paper folded in half to create a folder for my Fab Fibers. These are so thin and get EVERYWHERE if you are not careful. Don't sneeze when handling an open package! lol. I took out a bunch and gathered them into the middle of the makeshift folder while the laminator was warming up. Once it was ready I sent my fibers through. The parchment paper folder will help to hold everything together and protect the machine from loose fibers getting inside. Just make sure you tuck all the stray strands in!

So this melts all those tiny loose strands of fibers into a paper like sheet. It is really cool to see. I've had to play around with these a bit to figure out what works for me. Sometimes it just ends up looking like a hair ball. A shiny pretty hair ball though!
But once you get the hang of them the possibilities are quite fun. I love adding texture to my creations!

I wasn't really sure what to do with my sheet of fibers but I the colors shift reminded me of peacock which led me to the Birds of a Feather stamp set. After I figured out I would pair the two together it was really quick!

I'll be using two of the feathers from the Birds of a Feather stamp set, the two that looked most like a peacock's feather, and also the sentiment "Be a Peacock in a flock of pigeons". I stamped the two feathers on to a piece of Alabaster card stock with Raven Detail ink then outline with a W3 Copic Marker. This just gives the feathers a slight shadow. I decided to leave them black and white.

I used a die and teal card stock from my stash to cut a rounded corner and added some Brutus Monroe Craft Glue to the top. This is where I adhered my Fab Fibers melted sheet. I trimmed off the overhang, on the square sides, and let that dry.

The sentiment is heat embossed on to another piece of cardstock from my stash. I was looking for peacock colors to coordinate together. I used Alabaster embossing powder for a bright white bold sentiment! Then I carefully fussy cut the sentiment out and adhered everything together.

This is all attached to a Lunch Bag A2 card base with a Phone Book bottom layer. I love the colors on this card!
