Using stencils with Colored Pencils | The Rabbit Hole Designs Guest Design

Hey everyone!
I'm so excited to be guest designing for The Rabbit Hole Designs for the month of November. I have a card process video for you today too! I've been hooked on their stamps since I discovered the Caffeinated Dino. <--- check out that blog post here. For this card I decided to use the Caffeinated reindeer. This guy has a lot of attitude! I'll also be playing with the Diamond Flower stencil, I thought it looked a lot like a poinsettias.

Watch the video here or on Youtube

To start with I stamped the image of the Caffeinated Reindeer and used the Diamond Flower stencil to stencil the design on to Neenah Solar White 80lb panel. You could also use a light ink and blend that over the stencil to get your guides for the coloring, I did it this way so that I didn't have to mask the caffeinated reindeer.

I'm using Prismacolor Pencils for the stencil coloring. The colors I used are listed below.

Prismacolor Pencils Used:
PC925 Crimson Lake
PC122 Permanent Red
PC922 Poppy Red
PC911 Olive Green
PC913 Spring Green
PC989 Chartreuse
PC938 White

This did take quite some time to do, pencils are a slower coloring medium anyways but it was relaxing and I usually have a Youtube video or some show playing in the background. Then I started coloring with Copic Markers. These are much quicker of a coloring medium. Since this reindeer has big attitude I thought a gold candy cane robe would be appropriate.

Copic Markers Used:
Deer- E77, E35, E34, E43
Slippers - W6, W3, W1
Nose - R29, R14
Robe - YR23, Y15, Y02, Y00
Coffee Cup - G14, YG03, YG01
White Parts - W1, W0

The background and the reindeer add a lot of color and texture to this card so I kept the sentiments simple by heat embossing with Alabaster embossing powder on to pattern paper. I popped this up with some foam tape. I used the #reindeer fuel sentiment on a piece of Fog card stock, die cut with a speech bubble die. I added dimension to that one with a couple of foam dots.

Who else has received those fabulous sequins from The Rabbit Hole Designs in their order?! I've been using mine up! They were the perfect item to add to the centers of all of the Diamond Flowers. The yellow/green ones paired so well with my color combination.

You can see the inside of the card in the video. I did keep it simple as I normally do. That is it for this card! If you haven't seen what else The Rabbit Hole Designs has to offer make sure you check out their website. <--- click
