Barn Yard Cubbie | Art Impressions Challenge #267 Make it Sparkle

Hey everyone! Today on the Art Impressions blog we are showing sparkle inspiration using the NEW Cubbie stamp sets. These are so fun and I love seeing how everyone uses these differently. Also it's the second week into the Art Impressions Blog Challenge #267 Make it Sparkle. Can you see where I added my sparkle at?

I'm working with the Barnyard Animal Cubbies set, which comes with all kinds of cute animals, the barn with all the cubbies to hide those animals, several fun punny sentiments and a fence die. Plus there is also a banner die that you can add for more fun details. I'll have all the Cubbies listed below since there is quite the collection of them now, something for everyone!

To get started I stamped out the barn, fence and the animals. As you can see I used the chicken stamps multiple times. Then I colored everything up using Copic Markers. Colors I used are listed below. These were easy to color and didn't take long.

For the rest of the card I did a lot of ink blending. I'll be using Bristol Smooth card stock for this part. I die cut the 2 different hillside shapes. The dies I used I've had for a long time but you could also hand cut a swoopy hill side if you don't have dies. Before I use a stencil over the hills I go ahead and cover the Bristol Smooth card stock with Distress Oxide ink Twisted Citron. Then I apply the stencil over the top of that and add Lucky Clover. The contrast between these color are pretty extreme. To tone it down a bit I remove the stencil and ink blend over the top of the entire die cut with Distress Oxide ink Peeled Paint. This blends all those green colors together nicely. Below shows how it looks before and after applying the Peeled Paint oxide ink.

After the hills were blended I used another piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and ran that through my die cutting machine with the largest Art Impressions Rounded Rectangle die. I have more colors in the Distress Ink line then the Distress Oxides Inks. For the sky I used Dried Marigold first then, Scattered Straw and Victorian Velvet. I'm using some inexpensive Makeup Blending Brushes to blend all the inks for this card. To add in that dark blue color at the top I used Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire. For my sparkle I add in some splatters of Kuretake Starry Colors watercolors in White Gold. Subtle sparkle but those watercolor paints catch the light beautifully.

These Cubbies sets come with all the coordinating dies, even the large barn with all the fun cut outs and doors you can open.

Before adding these together I used some red craft foam with the barn die, that way I could pop up my barn a bit to add some dimension. I backed this piece with some black card stock. I also used some foam tape behind the front hillside too. Then it was just a matter of adding all of the cute critters to my scene along with the sentiment. There are so many different ways you can arrange these!
