Tubular Hamsters | Art Impressions Challenge #257 Furry Friends

Hey guys!

Today the Art Impressions Design team are sharing our card examples, using some the NEW Critter Cubbie sets, for the Challenge #257 Furry Friends. I hope you have already participated! But if you haven't yet, you still have plenty of time. ❤

The one I'm using is the Hamster Wheel set! These little guys are super cute. There are a few dies in this set that don't have a stamp, a flag and a small banner, I used the banner with some Aqua glitter cardstock and decided to make these birthday themed!

I first stamped all the images on to several pieces of Neenah 80lb cardstock. I colored them using some Copic markers, colors listed below. I tend to search a lot on the interwebs for color combinations and saw one that had aqua, yellow, orange and a light peach. I opted out the peach for the light beige for this one.

This was the first one I created. After coloring the images I also die cut the Fog Gray cardstock with a rectangle stitch die, the large Hexagon Stitch die I used three times; once with Tim Holtz Motiff Resist paper, I also used Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink and makeup blending brushes to show the resist pattern. Another with Papertrey Inks Dark Chocolate cardstock (partial die cut), the third die cut of the Hex die I used orange craft foam. I've been really into the colored craft foam I found at Michaels and I've been having fun color coordinating since I bought the variety pack. I'm also still loving and getting great results using the Therm-o-Web Ultra Bond glue to adhere the foam.

I stamped the sentiment with Gina K Amalgam ink, who guessed I was going to use the one that says "Totally tubular!? Then die cut the sentiment with a smaller Tag Stitch die.

The difference between the two are pretty small. I did use the party sign from The Holiday Mansion Birthday set. The first one I think I placed it too far back but I still like both. I loved that that set pairs really well with these furry hamsters! Also, like the Holiday Mansion set you have several doors that open so you can place these little hamsters inside of them for a peak-a -boo effect. I utilized that feature on the second card the one with the floral background instead of the woodgrain.

Alright that is it from me! Thank you so much for joining me today.
