Hey everyone! Today I have another Halloween card for you. I've done a couple cards already go here if you haven't seen them yet.
For this one I used the Bwahaha Stamp set but created a monochrome graveyard scene.
Watch the video here.
I first started with spraying a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with the Distress Resist Spray. This will preserve the white of the cardstock and create some texture. After that was dry I used several distress oxide & distress inks. Using Chipped Sapphire for the upper half and Forest Green for the lower. To keep this a really dark background I sponged Black Soot over the top. I tried it first with Distress Oxide ink but mine still needs to be re-inked, so I just used the Distress Ink in Black Soot to darken it.
I was just playing, spraying water, blending more ink on, seeing what happens and having fun with it. Once I got the blend I wanted I used the Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die to trim it down.
Next I used clear embossing ink and silver embossing powder on the stamped images of the fence and gate. I really like how the silver embossing powder looks on the black cardstock. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then used the same dies to cut black fun foam to adhere behind each so that they are popped up. Having black foam is really nice in occasions like this when you are using black cardstock. But not a lot of places carry it. There are however some black adhesive foam squares and dots just like the white ones I have used. See what you can find and what would work best for you.
I also stamped the tombstones and the cross on Fog cardstock and using Smoke ink. The tombstone stamp has RIP etched into it and I didn't want all of them to have that. To get around that I cut a square ink blending sponge and I used a alligator clip tool (shown in video) to hold that while I dipped the sponge into the ink and blended it over the RIP. I glued those elements behind the fence.
The sentiments were stamped and die cut twice. When I shortened the speech bubbles die cuts to fit the words better I cut it a little wonky and because that bothered me (a little OCD) I redid them. The "Bwahaha" is from the Simon Says Stamp Bwahaha stamp set and the "I'm behind you" is part of a stamp from the Tiny Words set. I haven't yet used Tiny Words except for with this and it does have a lot of great universal sentiments. Most of them are very uplifting and great for any card. While thinking of ideas for Halloween though, I saw the "I'm behind you 100%" and this card idea just popped in my head. lol. So I only stamped "I'm behind you" and it worked perfectly for this!
The inside is kept simple. This would be great for a Halloween themed giftcard or inside of a treat bag for a friend!
