I used the CAS-ual Fridays Coffee Cup Fri-die.....
What the video here.
The Large coffee cup in this die set has a cute handle and the inside handle negative piece is a perfect shape for one side of a butterfly. I die cut the handle 14 times in a rainbow of 7 colors. I also used the small coffee cup that comes in this same die set for the body off the butterfly. That one I only had to die cut 7 times!
I used 4 colors of Distress Ink blended on Bristol cardstock to achieve the rainbow background. I'm always amazed at the different colors you can get when blending ink. It's just so much fun to experiment with different color combinations.
I was lucky to have almost perfect shades of cardstock from Simon Says Stamp that matched my ink blending, except for the purple which is a Papertrey Ink cardstock. (all color names listed below)
After doing A LOT of die cutting not only to make the butterflies but then to create the dot edge around the background and the circle cut out for the die cut sentiment. (My big shot was smoking! lol)
When I do a full card panel of ink blending I like to use a post-it note to help hold down the paper with out my fingers getting in the ink and leaving prints. I used the same post-it not to help assemble the butterflies. By setting the post-it note sticky side up I was able to stick the wings together and adhere the body over top of the seam. I let it sit for a few minutes and then could remove easily.
After the butterflies were assembled I used a Signo white gel pen and a Sakura stardust glitter pen to add details to the wings. I used liquid glue on the underside of the body and popped up the wings with small foam dots. I also used the cut out circle of the background to die cut the shadow of the sentiment and layered it with white.
