Using Distress Resist Spray | Distress Inks | Lawn Fawn Finley's ABC Dies

I picked up the Distress Resist Spray and had to give it a try. I wasn't really sure if I was going to like the results but I have to say I do. It was fun and I think it is a perfect pairing to the Distress Ink and Distress Oxide line. Or really, almost, any coloring medium. The glass media mat was handy to have while using this product and did clean up nicely afterwords. I did have to use rubbing alcohol to remove the Distress Resist Spray, since it is water resistant, but I use that anyways to clean most surfaces.

Watch the card tutorial here.

I started off with spraying a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Distress Resist Spray, lightly. I wanted to preserve some of the white, just a little of it. The spray does dry fairly quickly but I sped it up by blasting it with my heat gun. When that was fully dry I started blending my first of 3 colors of Distress Inks. To start with I used Dried Marigold and blended that on to the Bristol paper using a ink blender tool and the glass media mat. I blasted the ink dry with my heat gun and then sprayed the cardstock with the Resist Spray again. I repeated those steps for all 3 colors of Distress Inks going from Dried Marigold to Spun Sugar and then Picked Raspberry. I die cut the panel with a stitch rectangle die.

For the words I used alphabet dies. I laid out the letters on the grid of the glass media mat to make sure that they were straight. Then secured them with a piece of washi tape. I used my T-ruler to help make sure that the words would be straight on the cardstock and the washi tape helped to secure the dies so that they wouldn't move.

For the grass layers I used a Lawn Fawn die and ran it through my Big Shot machine once with another piece of Bristol Smooth paper. I used another Distress Ink (Mowed Lawn) to get the bright vibrant green, spritzing it with a little bit of water. Once dry I ran the grass die cut through with the same stitch rectangle die I used on the Resist Spray panel. I wanted a layer of grass, so I took the negative of the grass and layered on the green distress ink so that it was darker then the first layer and attached that to the background. Then I trimmed off the over hang. Now I could add the last grass layer.

I cut up a scrap piece of Doll House pink cardstock and added that to the back of the die cut words. Then popped up the entire panel with white fun foam. I attached the piece to a Neenah Solar white A2 size card base and added shimmer with a glitter pen to each letter. Then coated the words with Glossy Accents, which helps to keep the glitter intake and adds some shine.

I used the scraps from the resist spray panel for the inside by just trimming it down so it creates a half border frame.
