I started off with blending my chosen alcohol inks on to a piece of Yupo paper. I did a lot of splattering with the blending solution and a watercolor brush to create texture.
Once I achieved the look I wanted with the Alcohol Inks I set that piece aside to dry thoroughly. Then I stamped the two otter images from the Hero Arts Otterly Amazing stamp set with Gina K. Amalgam Ink.
I die cut the alcohol ink background with a Lawn Fawn dotted rectangle die and then used 4 different sized circle dies to create the windows. To color the otters I used various colors of warm/ french grays and a few cream colors from my Prismacolor Pencil set. I kept the coloring simple and light because the background is pretty busy and rather darkish.
Using a simple color palette, I colored the small stamped images in and then traced the black lines with a micron pen. Then I attached that piece to a Neenah Solar white card base. I then attached the Alcohol Ink background to the pencil colored piece with foam tape.
Then I added two of the circle cut outs to the large circle die cuts and placed the otters over top. I liked how that looked with the small circle of the alcohol ink background behind the otters.
I stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts Otterly Amazing stamp set on to a piece of scrap Neenah solar white and trimmed it down and added a flag end on the right side. Then I could glue that down right above the largest otter and circle.
For the inside I took the last two die cut circles and adhered them to the top left and right corners.... no wasted pieces!
