I first stamped the ice cream image with a gray distress ink and then watercolored with various other distress inks. I honestly just smooshed the ink pads right on to my stamp platform surface. It was convenient and it's easy to clean up afterwords. While that dried, I used a Spellbinders rectangle scallop die to make the frame with a piece of Neenah solar white 110lb cardstock. Then I smooshed a worn lipstick distress oxide ink pad on my work surface and used my waterbrush to splatter the frame. I had used a scrap piece of Tim Holtz watercolor to stamp the ice cream, which had a gray wash of watercolor already. I didn't end up liking it so I did cut out the ice cream and adhere it to a A2 card base.
To pop up the the frame I used 3m tape and adhered it. The banner is made out of Simon Says Stamp dark chocolate cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger white embossing powder and cut the flag ends with a pair of scissors.
Before adhering the banner to the card I wanted to add a few more details to the ice cream. I stamped the chocolate chips with Gina K. Designs dark chocolate ink (so fitting) and used gathered twigs Distress Ink to fill in. I wanted to add sparkle with a Sepctrum Noir clear glitter pen but the ink never stays put. My trick for that is to add glossy accents over the top. You still get the shimmer of the glitter but it doesn't get everywhere. While I had the glossy accents out I also added it to the chocolate chips and the cherry.
I had to wait a while for everything to dry again but when it was done I used 3m foam tape to attach the banner.
I used distress inks to stamp the inside and kept it simple. I just love these colors!
